"We are pleased to see confirmation that association with Horizon Europe remains the ambition of the UK Government. In the interim, we welcome the decision to unlock a portion of the funding set aside for association to invest in research and innovation.

“We note, as part of the package, the increase in QR funding in England and welcome the confirmation that this will see additional funding for devolved administrations. QR funding is essential in enabling our universities to compete with those across the UK and attract additional investment to Wales, bringing benefits to communities across the country.

“Providing this funding to Welsh universities would help mitigate the impact of the uncertainty over our future association with Horizon Europe."
