Wales is open, welcoming and ready to offer an exceptional educational experience to students from around the world. That is the message after the Welsh Government’s announcement of a further £500,000 to support the Global Wales programme into the next academic year.

The new funding will help ensure that the Study in Wales brand continues to promote awareness of Welsh institutions, supporting student recruitment and boosting the profile of Wales internationally.

The establishment of Medr, Wales’s new Commission for Tertiary Education and Research, provides an exciting opportunity to set out a new vision for international education into the future. The new funding will provide additional time for discussion and planning as we transition to Medr taking on its responsibility to promote a Global Outlook to institutions.

In March, Universities Wales will publish a new report setting out recommendations to help drive forward the international education agenda. The recommendations will support Medr, the Welsh Government and the post-16 sector in ensuring that Wales remains an open, welcoming, and dynamic country providing a first-class education experience for international students now and into the future.
