“We welcome the publication of Medr’s strategic plan which sets out the new Commission’s vision for tertiary education and research in Wales. Its timing is also to be welcomed given the challenges the sector is currently facing.

“We welcome the plan’s recognition of many important and crucial areas, including the need to increase participation rates in tertiary education and training. 

“We are pleased to see a greater focus on global outlook within the plan. Internationalisation is vital to the Welsh tertiary education sector, contributing socially and culturally as well as financially and economically, and it is vital that this contribution is recognised and built upon. 

“Throughout the development of the strategic plan, we have appreciated the opportunity to provide input and engage in genuine consultation. 

“As we move forward to implementation, we look forward to collaborating effectively with Medr and the wider sector to ensure a thriving tertiary education and research sector in Wales that benefits learners, society, and the economy.”
