Universities awarded £15m for new Railway Research and Innovation Centre

UK Research and Innovation has announced a £15m award to establish a Centre of Excellence for Railway Testing, Validation and Customer Experience at the Global Centre of Rail Excellence in South Wales.

The Wales Innovation Network was pleased to facilitate the involvement of Cardiff University and Swansea University by working with the University of Birmingham and the Global Centre of Rail Excellence to identify the correct partners for the project.

The new centre will promote railway innovation, research and development and contribute to Welsh Government's decarbonisation and sustainability goals.
