Following on from We Are Together, which highlighted our members’ contributions during the pandemic, Getting Results focuses on how universities will help the country bounce back stronger in the next five years.

The campaign set out how university partnerships can create thousands of jobs, new businesses, and prosperity across the UK over the coming years. Universities renewed their commitment to work closely with a wide range of organisations and seek out new partnerships nationally and locally, to deliver the greatest impact possible.

Alongside the campaign work, Universities UK(UUK) published ‘Universities and the UK’s economic recovery: an analysis of future impact’, a report by the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education (NCEE).

According to the report, through partnerships with businesses, charities and local government, universities across Wales are predicted to:

  • Deliver 4,000 years’ worth of upskilling and training to businesses and charities.
  • Help 1,300 new businesses and charities to be formed.
  • Train 10,000 nurses, 4,000 medics, 8,000 teachers.
  • Be part of regeneration projects worth £536 million to the Welsh economy.

Partnerships between universities and small and medium-sized enterprises

In October 2021, the next phase of the campaign showcased how universities are working closely with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to boost economic growth across the country. The campaign aimed to remind politicians about the importance of universities in building the future workforce, levelling up and enterprise.

Success stories and insights were featured on UUK's website and across social media channels.
