WIN steering groups involve all nine Welsh universities and are aimed at supporting research and innovation collaboration centred around core strengths. Within these areas, WIN steering groups will seek to find opportunities where in partnership they can address social, cultural, and economic challenges at a local, nation-wide, and global level.

The Materials and Manufacturing (including semiconductors) steering group focuses on multi-disciplinary approaches to materials and manufacturing challenges, effectively exploring collaborative opportunities and providing operational coordination among the universities in Wales in materials and manufacturing research and innovation.
