The StartUp Awards is a collaboration between the founders of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards - an established national programme receiving over 5,000 applications annually - and the Wales StartUp Awards, the only national and regional awards currently celebrating new businesses in the UK.

The Awards recognise the achievements of those amazing individuals who have had a great idea, spotted the opportunity and taken the risks to launch a new product or service.

Universities Wales is sponsoring the Graduate StartUp category in Wales for the fifth year running. This award is open to any start-up in Wales which has been founded by an individual (or individuals) who have graduated from a Welsh university in the past three years. Previous winners include businesses working in space transportation and logistics, video marketing, language learning, and catering software.

Kieron Rees, Assistant Director at Universities Wales and a member of the Awards judging panel said:

“I am delighted that Universities Wales is once again sponsoring the Graduate StartUp Award – a category that is important in recognising the contribution that graduate-led businesses make to creating a vibrant and diverse economy,

“Wales has the highest per capita rate of graduate start-ups in the UK, and our universities do great work supporting and nurturing students and graduates as they set up new businesses.

"This award offers a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the impressive entrepreneurial talent that is coming out of Welsh universities. In the five years we have been sponsoring this category, I have always been impressed by the achievements and dedication of the winners and nominees – and I look forward to seeing the innovative new businesses that this year’s awards have to offer.”
