Universities Wales response to ETRA Committee report on Research and Development

"Universities Wales is pleased to see the Economy, Trade and Rural Affairs Committee recognise the crucial role of core research funding such as Quality-Related (QR) funding and HE innovation funding. 

"Welsh universities’ research spans a wide range of strengths and disciplines, with world-leading impact. Collaborations between higher education and industry deliver significant benefits to the people and places of Wales, and beyond.  

"Universities are working together via the Wales Innovation Network to collaborate on funding bids, and improve grant capture, but ultimately government support is a key enabling factor in creating the capacity required to stay at the cutting edge of research.  

"Universities Wales looks forward to engaging with Welsh Government on next steps arising from the Committee’s recommendations."
