In the video, the minister highlights the unique blend of academic excellence, inclusive communities, and stunning natural landscapes that make Wales a compelling choice for students from around the world.
“Wales offers more than just a study destination – it's a place where you'll truly belong,” she says, speaking directly to potential students. “Our universities and colleges combine world-class academic excellence with cutting-edge facilities and research opportunities that prepare you for success in today's global economy.”
The message underscores Wales’ commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for international learners. From vibrant cultural experiences to breathtaking scenery, students are encouraged to immerse themselves in everything Wales has to offer.
The minister also emphasised the important role international students play in creating dynamic university communities:
“You enrich our campuses with fresh perspectives, diverse talents, and global connections. Your presence helps create the vibrant atmosphere that makes Welsh universities and colleges such exciting places to learn and grow.”
This message comes at a time when Wales is gaining global recognition as a study destination. International awareness of Wales has more than doubled in just three years. This surge in awareness and interest has translated into real-world impact; according to HESA student enrolment data, Wales experienced the highest growth in student numbers in the UK between 2020/21 and 2023/24, outperforming the rest of the UK in its key partner countries India and the USA.
Available to view on the Study in Wales website, the video is just one element of a wider campaign to promote Wales as a welcoming and globally competitive study destination, supported by Global Wales and its partners.
