WIN steering groups involve all nine Welsh universities and are aimed at supporting research and innovation collaboration centred around core strengths. Within these areas, WIN steering groups will seek to find opportunities where in partnership they can address social, cultural, and economic challenges at a local, nation-wide, and global level.

During a worldwide climate emergency, Welsh research expertise in net zero and decarbonisation will be key to supporting the Welsh and UK governments to meet their aims. The WIN Net Zero and Decarbonisation steering group brings together expertise from across all nine Welsh universities including areas such as hydrogen, industry and steel, nuclear, social sciences, circular economy, livestock and farming, and future buildings and urban planning. The group also includes external partners representing industry and environment.
