Held at Cardiff University, the event provided the scholars with an opportunity to meet fellow scholars, network with each other and partners from across the Welsh higher education sector, and hear some Welsh language live music.

During the event, scholars and guests heard messages of welcome from Dr Ben Calvert, Vice-Chancellor of University of South Wales and Chair of Global Wales, and Ruth Cocks, Director of British Council Wales. We were also pleased to welcome back Amy Nguyen, a previous Global Wales postgraduate scholar, who reflected on her time in Wales and shared some of her happy memories of studying here.

In his welcome message, Dr Calvert reflected on the benefits international students bring to campuses across Wales by diversifying our communities and being generous in sharing their cultures with us. He highlighted the fact that as scholars, they represent the future leaders in their fields and as such will take home the knowledge and skills that they develop in Wales to benefit their nations and communities.

We would like to say a special thanks to colleagues from Study UK and British Council for their support in making this event possible, and to guests who attended to show our scholars just how welcome international students are in Wales. Diolch yn fawr.
